Society for Biological Engineering (SBE)
WHO ARE WE?
The Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) is a technological community of AIChE and works together with the Food, Pharmaceutical and Bioengineering Divison (Divison 15) to organize events for biological engineers at AIChE annual meetings. SBE aims to promote the integration of biology with
engineering and realize its benefits throguh bioprocessing, biomedical, and biomolecular applications.
SBE GOALS:
- Connecting People
- To make the AIChE Society for Biological Engineering the professional
association of choice for engineers and applied scientists with interest in the
broad area of biological engineering
- To provide opportunities for the succesful interaction of engineers and scientists.
- Cultivating Knowledge
- To develop products and services which are cost effective, relevant, and bring
value to the broad biological engineering community.
- Catalyzing the future
- To infuse awareness of biological engineering among all functions and activities
of AIChE, in particular: continuing education, membership, government relations,
meeting programming (especially co-programming alliances with other
organizations) and publications.
- To raise interest, understanding, and recognition of engineers' and scientists'
roles in biological engineering.
Why Join SBE?
- SBE provides an international professional network. Share ideas and experiences
with your colleagues from around the world.
- SBE members receive discounts on leading biological engineering conferences.
- SBE provides news that is relevant and what you need to know. Members receive
SBE's monthly e-newsletter and the semiannual BioSupplement to Chemical
Engineering Progress.
- Access to first-hand information from academic and industry experts on the leading
edge of biological engineering discovery and application is readily available through
SBE.
- SBE provides a voice in education, employment and technology advancement topics.
For more information, check out the Official SBE website.
This position is open to any Bioengineers currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania.
