The purpose of the Art Club is multifaceted. Penn has hundreds of aspiring artists and students interested in art. Yet with so many requirements in the various schools and major requirements, many students find it hard to incorporate art classes into their busy schedules. The Art Club opens Penn's various resources in fine arts to a broader student population.
Our focus is on three main areas: Speakers, Community Service, and Exhibitions.
- Speakers: Local contemporary artists speak at free dinners in Harrison College House about once a month.
- Community Service: This semester, the focus of this section of the club will be on the implementation of a new program teaching art classes to elementary school students in West Philadelphia.
- Exhibitions: As well as taking trips to galleries, we have our annual student art show in the Fox Gallery in Logan Hall coming up soon.
