Jonathon's Corner

October 28, 2010

Fellow Sophomores,

We don't need to consult U.S. News and World Report to know that we are at the best university this country has to offer. We already know it. We're intelligent and street smart, hard working and social, academic and athletic. But this class is something special, and you can see it in the way we walk down Locust. From owning a landscaping company to engineering fuel cells, Penn '13 students are already changing this world.

At the end of the day, we are in not in college to make friends with our textbooks. We are in college to make friends with one another – and lifelong ones at that. Penn students understand that, and realize that it's as much about learning from our 1 hour lectures as it is our 1 a.m. conversations with floormates.

That being said, it's our job as your Class Board to create more opportunities for you to meet and make memories with one another. There are 2,500 of us in this class, and who knows - your lifelong partner-in-crime might be out there and you may not know it yet.

That's why we're doing it big for you. We've celebrated old traditions like Econ Scream and have started new ones in NSOver Again, and now we're looking to revamp one of the university's most historic events – Skimmer.

Ultimately, the goal is simple: years from now, after graduation and GPA are a thing of the past, I want us to have amazing stories to share with one another. It's about making memories and building friendships.

So live it up 2013 because this year will be one we'll remember for the rest of our lives.

Much Love,

Jonathon
