Community Outreach

One of the goals of the Chinese Music Soicety is to spread awareness of Chinese music throughout the region. During the 2007-2008 academic year, Chinese Music Society visited senior centers in Center City Philadelphia and a public school in West Philadelphia. During these visits, members of the Chinese Music Society would describe the history and culture of Chinese music, introduce some Chinese instruments, and perform selected pieces. Chinese Music Society plans to continue its community outreach program for the 2008-2009 academic year; in October 2008, Chinese Music Society visited the Chinatown Learning Center in Philadelphia.
