Penn Equestrian Team
About the Team

The Equestrian Team is a co-ed recreational club sport open to all undergrads and grad students. The University sponsors most of our funding and allows us to provide an excellent program at a relatively low cost, especially for those students with no previous riding experience.

We offer several lessons from beginner level to advanced each week, including weekday nights and weekends, so there should be one that fits into your schedule.

For those riders interested in participating in shows, we compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, an organization comprised of colleges in our region that host approximately 10 shows during the year. We compete against colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, including University of Delaware, Valley Forge, Washington College, and Drexel University, at all levels. For more information about competitions and the IHSA, check out their website at http://www.ihsainc.com/ and look for Penn under Zone IV, Region IV, or visit the Showing page of the website.

Membership dues are tentatively $120 for 2011-2012: $90 to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and $30 to the IHSA. There is also a $45 lesson deposit that will be cashed only if a rider does not cancel his/her lesson at least 24 hours in advance.

If you wish to join the team during the Fall 2011 semester there are forms, waivers, and dues that must be turned in. Please see the New Members section of the website to join our listserve. If you have any questions, you can contact the team at upennequestrian@gmail.com.
