Leri had a goal and 3 assists on 11/3 against William Paterson and then added a goal and 4 assists against Temple on 11/8. Coach's Corner
| Some may think that a break like Thanksgiving could be a bad thing
for ateam that is winning. They may say that it could disrupt the
momentum, cause the players to get lazy or just create a sense of disinterest.
I, however, feel differently about this latest break. I believe that
it couldn't have come at a better time. True, we have won 8 of our
last 9 contests, scoring 24 goals in our last 3. True we earned an
11th seed national ranking in the Northeast Conference of the ACHA.
And true we are in 2nd place in the very competitive MACHA. But looks
can be deceiving. Penn has been a battered and bruised team for several
weeks. Assistant captain Ryan Redpath has been out 3 weeks with a
serious illness, goalie Ned Adams has suffered a strained hamstring and
has been out since parents' weekend and various other injuries and illnesses
have kept the likes of Chris Belanger, Dan Gabbay, Ross Giambilvo, Aaron
Wasserman, Jeff Bagnoli, Brian "Utah" Regan and Matt Scattarella out for
one if not more games lately. So while the current wins look great
on paper, they feel even better to this team who has battled and clawed
their way to victories on nights when they probably shouldn't have won.
But that's what good teams
do--they win on nights when maybe they shouldn't. And so I welcomed this break, as it gave everyone a chance to go home, rest, recuperate and heal, because while there are only three games on the schedule until winter break, all three are against teams that will push us to the limit. Am I worried? Not at all. While most of the Thanksgiving break was spent healing and preparing
for the tough upcoming schedule, great news was handed down by the MACHA
league office. Three Penn players were honored by the league for
their stellar play. Assistant Captain Whit Matthews and goalie Pat
Baude were named the
See you all at the rink!!!!!
