Wharton Latino’s Annual Career Conference has, year after year, hosted premier companies worldwide, distinguishing itself as one of the foremost undergraduate recruiting conferences on campus and offering at the same time a unique opportunity for both the students and the companies.
Students exchange opinions and ideas with the companies’ representatives. They get to know these companies in the conference itself and during the lunch-break. At lunch, the students sit side by side with the representatives from the company they choose before hand. The lunch’s horizontal structure has become one of the conferences most attractive features, seating students and representatives around the same table, promoting a more candid and genuine impression of both the representatives and the students.
A key-note speaker also takes part in the conference during lunch. In 2003, Tim Purcell, head of Latin American investments for JP Morgan Chase, addressed the conference. Speakers share their perspective on the dynamics of labor, and speak on some subject of their choice with focus on Latin America. Their fresh view from the inside strengthens the reciprocal relation that continually develops between student and company throughout the conference.
