TRYOUTS
Tryouts for the 2011-2012 season will be in early September, during the first week of school. There will be three rounds of tryouts, with the number of players trying out slimmed down after each session.
- SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH from 2-5PM on PennPark Field 1
- SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH from 11-2pm on PennPark Field 1
- MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH in the evening on PennPark--invite only
HOW TO ACCESS PENN PARK:
Behind Franklin Field (on 33rd St and Locust Walk), there will be a bridge that extends over the railroad and connects the campus to PennPark. Due to some weird safety regulation, you cannot walk across the bridge by yourself, and must be escorted by Penn Recreation staff to the fields from the bridge. Please plan to arrive early to allow for this process.
Below is information concerning how
tryouts will work:
What to bring:
-Proper Soccer Attire
-Shinguards
-A Dark and White Shirt
-Water
Guidelines:
-On the first day, show up 30 minutes early to process paperwork.
-You will be given a number that you will use every day of tryouts; if you
forget that number, you will be sent home to retrieve it.
How tryouts work:
Current members of the Penn Club Soccer team will administer, manage, and
observe the tryouts.
Tryouts usually consist of small sided games and other technically oriented
drills in the first half of the session, with larger games and other tactically
oriented drills taking place during the second half of the session.
During the first tryout session, prospective players will play with and against
other prospective players split into groups of various sizes. As the
tryouts progress, prospective players will find themselves playing with and
against current club players in addition to other prospective players.
Tryouts have historically been competitive. We expect to pick 7-9 players. We encourage all interested players to be
in good physical shape.
We look forward to seeing everybody on the pitch. Feel free to contact us
with any questions.
