The Quaker ClassicNovember
11th-13th,
2011 The registration fee is $165/team, and schools requesting more than two spots are being dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Additional details will be posted here on our website as they become available. What is the Quaker Classic? The Quaker Classic is a college mock trial
tournament hosted by Penn Mock Trial in Philadelphia, PA. Students from
different schools compete in four rounds of competition, during which
their performance is assessed by two scoring judges. Teams
from the following schools have competed at the Quaker Classic:
Brandeis
University, Carnegie Mellon, Colgate University, Columbia University,
Elizabethtown College, Fordham University, Georgetown University,
George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, Lafayette
College, Patrick Henry College, Penn State University, St. Vincent's
College, Swarthmore College, The College of William and Mary,
University of Delaware, University of Maryland, University of North
Carolina, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, Washington
and Lee University, and Yale University. What
is
there
to do in Philadelphia that weekend besides compete in mock
trial? This year the Penn Mock Trial team will be
hosting a downtown club event in honor of the Quaker Classic at an
exclusive location. The theme for the event will be "Party like a
Mockstar." Details will be sent with the registration
information. This is a great way to meet other mock trial
competitors on the circuit, outside the courtroom setting. We
look forward to having a great time and celebrating our Ninth Quaker
Classic with you. Not a Mock Trial participant, but want to get involved? You can! There are two ways for non-competitors/coaches to participate in the Quaker Classic: judging and sponsorship. Our tournament could not exist without the help of real-life judges, attorneys, law school professors and law school students. Every matchup is presided and scored by two or three volunteer judges/jurors. This means we'll be looking for approximately forty to fifty individuals to serve as judges/jurors for each of the four rounds of competition! Please do not hesitate to ask questions or communicate interest by e-mailing Judging Coordinator Jennifer Chaquette at QCjudging2011@gmail.com. We are also currently in the process of looking to form a partnership with a local Philadelphia law firm or corporation interested in sponsoring the Quaker Classic. It's a great way to give back to legal education in one of Philadelphia's premier undergraduate institutions. We also gratefully accept individual donations of any amount. If you or your firm is interested in working with us, please contact our fundraising chair Isabelle Sun at Corporate.Relations@pennmocktrial.com. |
