This choir has been such a support system for me as I've gone through college and I'm so glad to have been a part of the talent and get to know many amazing individuals. My family is from Nigeria but I grew up in Chicago, and since home is far, it's nice to have a family on campus. I actually had been planning on joining NSP after seeing a concert my freshman year, but it wasn't until my friend Jasmine Salters (thanks girl!!) brought me to a practice my sophomore year that I became hooked. New Spirit of Penn Gospel Choir has been such a blessing to me and I hope it touches you the same.

I joined the gospel choir through the influence of Ijeamaka with whom I attended high school and currently attend Penn. I truly enjoy the choir because I have always loved to sing in groups for the glory of God. I decided to serve on the board because I truly support the choir's mission and also see room for improvement. Last year I served in the capacity of secretary and this allowed me to find out more about the choir. I have sincerely enjoyed the choir experience and find that the organization and it's members create a safe haven and encouraging environment.

I am Economics major pursing pre-medical studies in the College of Arts of Sciences. I joined the choir my freshman year at Penn and have been here since. I don't know of any other way to show my appreciation for impact of the choir in my life but to give back through a leadership role. My goal is to be a part of making NSP as great a blessing for others as it has been for me here at Penn!

I'm an HSOC major with a minor in International Development in the College of Arts and Sciences and part of the graduating class of 2013!!! Whoop whoop! I am originally from Antigua but I attended high school in New York and have been living there since. I joined NSP after I attended the Concert of Fall 2009. I decided that I had to join because I absolutely LOVE singing! And I had finally found a spiritual outlet on campus. Since being with NSP, I have found that my relationship with God has been strengthened, for which I am extremely happy!! Also, I have found somewhat of a family in the choir members. An interesting fact about me is that I am a Lion King and Smallville (tear for the series being over) fanatic! Ask me anything!

I am from the lovely Garden State of New Jersey. I am a senior in the college studying Economics and African Studies and I hope to one day implement what I have learned in the developing world. In the meantime, I love the performing arts and I love spending my time with NSP, where I have met so many of my friends here at Penn.

I have absolutely loved my last two years at PENN, and NSP has been one of the aspects of my life here that I’ve loved the most. Even before I came to PENN, I knew that I wanted to get involved with a music group and a choir that sings about God sounded like the perfect fit for me. The very first practice I went to, I got chills when we were all singing “Rock of Ages” – knowing that there were a whole group of people who also loved Jesus (and music) was very encouraging and humbling. The past two years in the choir have been amazing and I’ve seen God mature me personally and the choir as a whole.
Random fact: I have made it through over two years of college and I have never tried coffee or had to pull an all-nighter.

Being involved with the New Spirit of Penn was inevitable from the moment I stepped on Penn's campus. Hailing from Huntsville, Alabama, gospel music remained a constant for me in a world full of spontaneous change. I've been able to find an amazing family in NSP and I found it an honor to be able to serve in this capacity. Being in NSP has brought me closer to God and has given me a home away from home and I love it!
I'm a sophomore in the College studying Urban Studies and Music and I love Jesus! :)

During freshman year, one of my roommates who had joined NSP would always come home Mondays and Wednesdays expressing how much she loved the choir. "You don't understand... it's like a family", she would say. After attending the concert that Spring semester I just knew I had to join. Since becoming a member of the choir I have met many wonderful people; it feels great knowing other young people that love the Lord!
