Joshua has returned from his semester in China a changed man. Gone are his fresh-faced youth, his passionate vitality, his command of the English language, and his health. Those qualities have been replaced by an unhealthy habit of hawking and spitting in public, a little red book, and a collection of 400 pirated DVDs. He is a perpetrator of the perennial effort to convert PennYo into the musical branch of Club Singapore, by subtly including numerous Singlish syllables in PennYo arrangements (e.g. "lah"). Outside of PennYo, he is also an English major, an actor in the Underground Shakespeare Company, and is incomprehensible to native speakers of English.
