Russ grew up in Singapore and spent 21 years there before coming over
to Penn, having the honor of becoming one of the oldest freshmen on
campus, made possible by Singapore's compulsory military conscription
of 2.5 years, possibly the longest in the world.
He absolutely loves his Chinese name for the significance it carries.
Being in America, however, he feels compelled to use Russell (double
“l” please) instead. He just can’t bear to see Ang
Mohs trying hard, in valiant attempts, to (mis)pronounce his name.
Russ is crazy over G-Star. He’s simply mad about it. G-STAR!!!! Enough said. Feel free to contribute to his G-Star acquisition fund. For more information, contact PennYo.
Having been diagnosed with the Incurable Sweet-tooth Syndrome, Russ is
unwilling to forego desserts. He is a dessert connoisseur, a dessert
aficionado. Try asking him to give up desserts. He prides himself with
having an ever-expanding database of Best Places for Desserts. Mudpies?
Tiramisu? Cheesecakes? Or simply craving for a rich chocolate cake? The
seven-layer Chocolate Decadence from Seah Street Deli (Raffle Hotel) is
the choice. Ooh… ultimately sinful indulgence to gratify the
craving for that extra boost of endorphine (and fats). By the way, the
database is confined to restaurants in Singapore. How useful…
Russ enjoys reading works by Haruki Murakami and Milan Kundera though
he hasn’t had time for such indulgence lately; Penn’s
piling him with too much work! How he wish Penn could conduct classes
on Murakami/Kundera.
