For a history of 20 years, no one has successfully predicted Lori's hometown correctly at first sight. Although she is ethnically chinese, she likes to say that she's a "mountain people," (a term referred to as native Taiwanese people in Taiwan) as she looks like them and enjoys playing sports and singing a lot (typical traits of the mountain people!). The fact that she has seen wild swine killed by tribe elders live and drunk fresh rice wine with the tribe makes her feel even more connected to the people.
Flying half way around the globe from Taiwan, Lori started a new life at Penn. Being her first time living in the US, Lori's FOBness was no other. She complained about having to eat rice with a fork, freaked out when she couldn't find garbage can in the toilet and was always confused when her friends crack jokes (okay, she still is). Luckily, PennYo adopted her since freshman year and served as a perfect buffer for her to transition into the US culture. Singing with the Yo's is one of her favorite activities at Penn.
