Meet The Board
President
Julie Han is a member of the class of 2010, pursuing a major in Biology and a concentration in Finance through the Vagelos Program for Life Sciences and Management. Prior to becoming President, she first served as the Director of External Relations, where she worked to strengthen the presence of PIBV on campus. As President, she hopes to amplify the impact of the consulting projects, develop effective post-trip evaluations, and maintain strong relationships with other organizations and the University. In Summer 2008, she traveled to Mexico City with PIBV to work with The Hunger Project, helping them revitalize their marketing and fundraising strategies. In addition to PIBV, Julie is involved with Wharton Leadership Ventures, MUSE, and the Kite and Key Society. After her undergraduate career, she hopes to work in health care consulting before pursuing a joint MBA/MD degree.
Project Scoping Chair
Nicholas Stevens is a sophomore in both the Wharton School, concentrating in Management, and the Engineering School, majoring in Systems Engineering. As Project Scoping director, Nicholas’s committee is tasked with establishing and maintaining relationships with NGO’s around the world in addition to preparing student teams to meet their needs. This year, he is particularly excited to investigate NGO’s focused in new areas of development work as well as locations previously unexplored by PIBV students. Nicholas started as a trip leader for the 2008 summer trip to Wokai in Bejing, China, and strives to make every trip affordable. Around campus, Nicholas is Treasurer for the Delta Phi Fraternity, a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, and involved in theater. After his undergraduate career, Nicholas hopes to work in consulting, focusing in technological business, before pursuing a venture of his own.
External Relations Chair
Aditi Kumar is a junior in the Huntsman Program for International Studies and Business. She is originally from India, but she just became an American citizen in January (a fact of which she is very excited about!). She comes from a little town called Mexico in Missouri, which wonderfully confuses people. She could also physically pass for any number of nationalities, so her life goal is to become a spy. She is specifically studying Business & Public Policy, Finance, Political Science and French. PIBV is the only organization that she has found on campus that satisfies all her disciplines and interests; it has been the love of her life for the past three years. Social Impact Consulting generally draws her because she gets the chance to merge very practical business skills with the human component that one finds in most NGOs.
Events Chair
Emily Wengel is a junior from Beachwood, Ohio in the Life Sciences and Management program, majoring in Biology and concentrating in OPIM. This past summer, Emily participated on the May 2008 Grama Vidiyal trip to Trichy, India and then traveled to Mumbai to work with the pharmaceutical company Piramal Life Sciences India Limited. As events chair, Emily hopes to improve the pre-trip training process with additional cultural and skills-based workshop events. For internal and external PIBV events, she plans to partner with various organizations, departments, and resources to focus on themes related to international development and NGO management. Outside of PIBV, Emily is working on developing a business plan for a socially conscious teahouse and doing globalization research. Upon graduation from Penn, Emily hopes to pursue health-care consulting, and she eventually wants to apply her business skills to development work abroad.
Fundraising Chair
Steven Ou is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Economics. Though he has ample travel experience, having lived in Taiwan, Argentina, Guatemala, and Spain, he has not gone on any consulting trips with PIBV yet. He is excited for the opportunity to be on a PIBV consulting team for the first time. As fundraising chair he hopes to diversify revenue streams in the committee by spreading out risk on a larger number of smaller projects. Outside of PIBV he is an avid Latin dancer and member of Onda Latina. He is also an active trader of the FX and equities markets. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a short-term career in consulting, obtain an MBA, and make a living as a serial entrepreneur.
Public Relations Chair
Anisha Atluri is currently a freshman at the Wharton School, originally from Marlboro, NJ. She is considering a concentration in Business and Public Policy and also plans to complete a minor in French. Anisha loves to cook and is an avid fan of European soccer. She hopes to eventually conduct research in the area of international political economy during her time at Penn.
Treasurer
Dong Lee is a junior studying Finance/Management and possibly either Accounting or Statistics. He grew up in Korea and Canada and comes from Ottawa, Canada. As the treasurer, he handles budget planning and financial transactions during the academic year of service. He is also a member of the Project Scoping committee. His other roles include a member to the Social Impact Consulting Group and International Affairs Association.
Webmistress
Donna Chan is a junior studying bioengineering, who is from Missouri City, Texas. She is also a member on the events committee, helping to plan events--big and small--to educate the club and the Penn community about the impacts of social entrepreneurship. Her other roles on Penn's campus include acting on stage and undertaking breast cancer research at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Although Donna has not done a trip with PIBV yet, she is very much looking forward to participating in one this summer. After graduation, she hopes to travel extensively and eventually find a career path that meshes her love for health science, international development, and business.
