As of Spring 2008, PIBV was composed of seventy-three undergraduates from all four academic schools. We have expanded incredibly in the past two years, with strong representation of underclassmen increasingly taking on leadership roles.
PIBV also boasts diversity in academic disciplines. Although Wharton students constitute the largest portion of PIBV members at 43%, nursing, engineering, and liberal arts students have joined the organization to contribute their unique skill sets.
The following charts illustrate the membership profile breakdown. (Note, you will need to enable FlashPlayer to view them.)
Not all trip participants are PIBV members. In fact, nearly half of our trip participants come from outside the club (17 out of 37 participants in summer 2008 were non-PIBV members). The selection process to be on a summer trip is very competitive, especially for non-members. Below is a closer look at the profile of the students slected for our 2008 summer projects.
