About the NGO: |
|
Wokai is an internet-based microfinance intermediary, whose mission is to enable Chinese microentrepreneurs to lift themselves out of poverty. To achieve this goal, Wokai will raise capital from individual contributors in the U.S. and transfer this loan to Chinese microentrepreneurs through Microfinance Institutions in rural areas. These field partners will monitor the borrowers’ progress and repayments, and contributors will have access to this information via Wokai’s website. Wokai is currently undergoing beta testing, and plans to launch by Winter 2008.
