ELECTIONS on Tuesday, April 16th, in Steiny D 1201 at 7:30PM!
Elections will start promptly at 7:30PM so please do not be late. We have a drop down system so if you do not get your top choice, you may run for any following positions. Candidates will have 2 MINUTES to make their speech. The complete run down is here.
In order to be ELIGIBLE TO VOTE, you must have attended AT LEAST 5 GBM's this school year. This includes fall and spring semester. We will be checking attendance records. You can read up on our candidates' applications here.
Faculty Chat with Dr. Paige Porrett on Tuesday, April 9th, in Steiny D 1201 at 7:30PM!
This week we have an exciting faculty chat with Dr. Paige Porrett, a liver transplant surgeon at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. She holds an MD PhD in immunology, and enjoys instructing students about surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine.
GBM on Tuesday, April 2nd, in Steiny D 1201 at 7:30PM!
This week's GBM will feature a panel discussion for the MCAT vs. GRE tests! A representative from Princeton Review will be leading the talk; she'll be giving us insider tips for choosing grad school and differentiating between the two exams.
We'll be discussing our PWBS Relay team for this coming Friday at Franklin Field. Sign up here so we know when you are coming. We have time slots from 7pm-12am on Friday. Come for at least 1 time slot! We will be leading Zumba starting at 11pm, and anyone is welcome to join, no matter your coordination level. We'll also be discussing elections for board positions, which will be coming up in the next few weeks.

We're going to hear from YOU! If you shadowed a doc through our Physician Shadowing Program, we ask that you come and talk to us about your experience! It does not need to be formal , and your fellow women in science will be very interested to hear what you did/saw/learned.
At the GBM we'll start to talk about our plans for Relay for Life!! The link for our event is here.
And we'll be doing some fun activities there, so you should definitely plan on coming!! It's a great way to be a part of raising awareness and money for the American Cancer Society and those who are continually being diagnosed every day.
PWBS Advanced Registration Panel on Tuesday, March 12th, in Steiny D 1201 at 7:30PM!
We'll help you organize your schedules, answer questions, and share our experiences (trust us, we've just about seen it all). So be sure to bring all of your questions!! :)

Mandatory Physician Shadowing Info Session and Faculty Chat on TUESDAY JANUARY 29th IN STEINY D 1201 AT 7:30PM!
For those of you interested in the physician shadowing program, THIS MEETING IS MANDATORY. This is a great program that we have, exclusively for PWBS active members so don't miss out! We will also be continuing our faculty chat series with Dr. Nicole Fett, dermatologist at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. Get an inside view of a woman in the medical field and of this particular scope of medicine!

Food will be provided, and PR's 168 Best Med School Books will be for sale. A rep from Princeton Review will be coming to discuss prep classes and discounts! We'll be discussing our spring events, and pre-health/pre-grad checklists for all years!

Study break on Tuesday, December 4th, in Steiny D 1203!
We have Steiny D 1203 booked from 6:30 - 9:30 pm as a study space for us to use! All members are welcome to use this study space if you are looking for a quiet change of scenery. **Study Buddies are encouraged to use this time and place to coordinate a study session! At 7:30pm, we will bust out the GINGERBREAD HOUSE making supplies!! This may be a friendly or competitive activity, but it will most certainly be FUN :) Don't forget! Kids Judge is this upcoming WEDNESDAY, from 10am-12pm (we'll be cleaning up til 1pm most likely if you want to help with that) Lastly, we just wanted to thank all of you who have been coming to our meetings and being so involved with our society. We're looking forward to so many exciting things for the next semseter including a trip to NYC, our physcian shadowing program, awesome fundraisers, MCAT prep in collab. with Princeton Review, Relay for Life Service event and so much more!!

This week we will be hosting Penn's Jon Fried, who will offer his expertise on public speaking. We will also be discussing the do's and don'ts of interviewing, how to impress your future employer/PI/med school! You'll hear from the upperclassmen and board members who have interviewed and what has worked for them. If you signed up for KIDS JUDGE or wanted to but forgot, it is very important that you come to this meeting! We will be discussing the logistics of our table and planning for the event.
Guest speaker, Dr. Rotonya Carr, on Tuesday, November 20th, at 7:30pm in Steiny D 1203!
This week for our GBM, we are excited to present to you Dr. Rotonya Carr, a gastroenterologist at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is an instructor of medicine,researches the causes of insulin resistance in fatty liver disease, and is coming to talk to US about her experiences as a doctor, a reseracher, and a woman. Snacks will be provided! :) Also, if you have any clothing items that you are willing to donate, there is currently a clothing drive for families in Nigeria, who have been experiencing mass flooding. You can bring clothes to this or the next GBM! Contact Carly Sokach (a fellow PWBS member on the Community Service Committee) at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. She will be taking all donations to the drop box at 38th and Chestnut, at St. Agatha and James Church. And keep in mind that this is our last GBM before Thanksgiving Break. We'll be making Thanksgiving Day cards to deliver to CHOP and also giving a presentation on all of the on and off-campus volunteer opportunities with which you can get involved. We also have a ton of great information and products from the Princeton Review to share with you, including discounts for MCAT classes, water bottles, and books. Each year, the BBB program sponsors Kids Judge! Neuroscience Fair at Penn. PWBS will be hosting the Sweet and Sour Science table. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 5 from 10 am-Noon. All participants will receive lunch and a free t-shirt! This is a great opportunity to give back to the community, and inform elementary school students about the brain! MD, PhD, and MD/PhD Panel on Tuesday, November 6th, at 7:30pm in Steiny D 1203!
This week's GBM will be a panel of several medical and graduate students as well as the Officer of the Penn MD/PhD program!! It's never too early to start thinking about your options, so get excited to be able to get the inside scoop on these post-graduate paths. You'll be able to ask all of those burning questions you have, so bring them all!
