Welcome to the Stimulus Children's Theater homepage! Stimulus Children's Theater is the only children-oriented theater group at the University of Pennsylvania. We perform for elementary schools, community centers, day care centers, hospitals, and elderly care facilities. We supplement our program with classroom workshops before and after each performance, in which we teach our audiences about theater.

Stimulus was founded in 1988 by Penn students who wanted to bring theater to the children of Philadelphia. We perform a variety of children's shows, ranging from published ones: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty with a Twist, and Charlotte's Web to original ones: Wendel the Sheepherder, Ti Jack Finds a Special Purpose, A Philadelphia Children's Story, Layla's Blackbelt, The Cat's Pajamas, and Owyn's Magical Scarf.

Our shows teach some kind of lesson whether it be finding your special purpose or what you want to be when you grow up. We convey the show's message to Philadelphia kids not only in our Penn shows, but also in our pre and post show workshops and our community shows (shows that we perform in places other than Penn theaters).

Stimulus Children's Theater proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 1998 with A Philadelphia Children's Story. At the time of its founding in 1988, Stimulus was a rather small organization with limited capabilities. Even so, the original members managed to put on great shows for the community. Eighteen years later, we are able to do much more in terms of putting on a show now than before, yet one thing hasn't changed. And that's the general love of children and theater that drives Stimulus.
