More about Dr. Melissa Hunter-Ensor, our keynote speaker:

Dr. Hunter-Ensor graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Smith College, and obtained her Ph.D in Neuroscience from UPenn in 1997. She then joined the MIT laboratory of Nobel Laureate H. Robert Horvitz as a post-doctoral fellow. After many years of exciting, fellowship-supported research she decided to pursue a J.D. at Suffolk University where she graduated cum laude. Currently Melissa is an associate with Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP focusing on protecting US and foreign patent applications, particularly those related to protein, small molecule, RNAi, drug delivery, and bio-assays.

Parking/Public Transit Information:

Penn is convenient to the SEPTA regional rail and the Market-Frankfort elevated line, as well as many bus lines. For stops, connections, and train times SEPTA plan-my-trip is helpful.

Abundant street parking is available along Walnut Street from 31st to 34th Streets, and along 33rd St from Spruce to Market. Current meter rates are $1.50/hr, quarters or Philadelphia Smart Cards only.

A map of Penn parking facilities can be found here. We suggest pay lots 1 and 19 as most convenient to Houston Hall. The parking fee is $5/day on Saturdays.

The closest free parking is available in Penn lot #45. To enter this lot, take Chestnut to 31st Street. Turn right on 31st Street; at the end of 31st Street, turn right on Jones Way, then an immediate left ( follow the signs for the Levy Tennis Pavilion/Bowers Field/WXPN parking). Drive along a fence-lined access road to the first right into Levy Tennis Pavilion. Turn left to reach lot #45. Stairs from the lot will bring you up next to Franklin Field.
