Quaker Girls Bios

Stephanie Kotnik is the current Executive Director of Quaker Girls. Born and raised in Queens, New York, she has been dancing since she was 4 and is so happy to have brought this passion to Penn with this team. She is a senior in the College, majoring in Urban Studies. She loves performing at the Palestra and cannot believe this will be her last season out on the court with her teammates. She is so excited for what the year has in store and can’t wait to make the most of it with the best dancers on campus!    

 

Brittany Nargi , the Artistic Director of Quaker Girls, is a senior, Architecture major in the College. She is from Long Island, New York and has dance experience from a local studio in tap, ballet, lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop. Dancing since the  age of four, she is thrilled to continue to dance here at Penn!

Jazmyne Evelyn, Quaker Girls' Social Chair, is from Long Island, New York. She has been dancing since the age of three. She enjoys dancing, writing, and shopping. She is a senior and plans on majoring in Communications and minoring in Fine Arts and Spanish.

Michele Saums, Quaker Girls' Finance Chair, is a senior who is currently studying Biological Basis of Behavior and is hoping to go to medical school.  She is from Connecticut and is a sister of Sigma Kappa as well as a researcher at Penn Med.  Dancing since first grade, she is technically trained in jazz, tap, ballet, and modern and is enthusiastic to be a part of the Quaker Girls!

 

Gaby Gosciniak could not be happier to be the Public Relations Chair of Quaker Girls! She has been dancing since she was a little girl at Miss Jeanne's School of Dance Arts in Bethlehem, PA, and is thrilled to continue dancing with the Quaker Girls here at Penn.  Gaby is a currently a senior majoring in Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences and plans to go to medical school. When not heating up halftime, Gaby loves being a sister of Sigma Kappa Sorority and Co-Chair of Camp Kesem UPenn :)

Alexandra Roman is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences from Detroit, MI. She has been dancing for 12 years, taking classes in ballet, pointe, modern, and jazz, and cannot wait to start dancing at half time with her fellow teammates! Besides Quaker Girls, she is also involved in Penn’s Black Student League. Alexandra plans to major in International Relations with a minor in Spanish.

Alexis Block is a freshman majoring in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has been dancing for 16 years, trained in the genres of ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip hop. She spent the her last four years on her high school's varsity dance team performing at half time of football and basketball games and competing in hip hop, jazz, kick, and pom. She is so excited to continue her dance team career here at Penn on the Quaker Girls!

Ally Del Cañal was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but raised in Miami, FL. She started dancing when she was 11 in genres such as ballet, jazz, tap, and flamenco. She is a sophomore in Wharton and planning to double concentrate in Management and Retail. She absolutely adores laughing and going out to dance with friends. Ally can’t wait to dance alongside her new team!

Andréa Shanley is a freshman in the School of Nursing and plans on minoring in Nutrition to pursue a career in pediatric oncology. She lives an hour outside of Philadelphia in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She has been dancing for 14 years in all areas of dance including ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and hip hop. Andrea danced on her high school dance team and is looking forward to continuing that with the Quaker Girls!

Carolyn Gordon is from West Chester, Pennsylvania and is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has been dancing since age 4 and is trained in many different styles of dance, but enjoys hip-hop and jazz the most. Carolyn danced at half-time of her high school's basketball games as a Golden Knight and can't wait to continue dancing as a Quaker Girl!

Catalina Arango is originally from Medellin, Colombia but has lived in Miami, FL for the past 13 years. Currently, she is a junior in the Wharton Business School and plans on concentrating in management with a minor in psychology. She loves doing yoga, going out and meeting new people, and of course, dancing and performing!

 

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Desirée Grant is now a Nursing major. She loves basketball and looks forward to pumping up the audience at Men's Basketball games!

Jacqueline Baron is a senior in the College and from the suburbs of Atlanta. She's majoring in Psychology, minoring in Sociology, and aspires to be a child psychologist in the FBI. Jacqueline has been dancing since the age of 7 and hip-hop is definitely her favorite! She was on the dance team that performed at basketball half-times all throughout high school and is so excited to be able to continue her passion for performing. While not dancing with the Quaker Girls, Jacqueline is a Resident Advisor (RA) in Fisher Hassenfeld College House, Vice President of The Gamma Epsilon Philadelphia City Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Co-President of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), an intern at the Center for Autism Research, Assistant Manager of the Penn's Sprint Football Team, and involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. Go Quakers! :)

Jacqueline La Quaglia is from East Hanover, New Jersey and is currently a senior in the School of Nursing. She has been dancing since she was a little girl at Nicole’s Broadway Dance Company in New Jersey and is so excited to continue dancing here at Penn with Quaker Girls!

Jill Tuso is a first year graduate student pursuing a degree in Applied Psychology and Human Development.  Dancing has been a big part of Jill's life since she was 3 years old and she continues to love it.  Her favorites are jazz and hip hop. As an undergrad at UCLA, Jill was a dance specialist, as well as a counselor, at a summer camp.  Being a member of the Quaker Girls team is a highlight of Jill's experience at Penn and can't wait to begin performing with the team!

Margot Konig is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is from Dallas, Texas and is majoring in Economics. Margot has been dancing since she was young in all styles of dance including jazz, ballet, modern, and hip hop. Her favorites are jazz and hip hop. She loves performing with the Quaker Girls at basketball halftimes!

Merideth Lathrop is a junior here on a transfer term from Dartmouth College.  She is studying Neuroscience and Native American Studies.  She has been dancing since she was two years old and has taken lessons in many different genres including jazz, hip hop, acrobatics, modern, lyrical, tap, and ballroom.  She is so excited to be a part of the Quaker Girls and can't wait to perform with the team!

Sarah Katzin is a sophomore in the College from Boca Raton, Florida. She is majoring in Health and Societies, and plans to continue on to medical school in the future. She has been dancing since she was three years old in all styles of dance, but loves hip hop the most! Sarah loves heating up halftime with the QGs at all the Penn games!!

Sierra Levin is a freshman in Nursing from Baltimore, Maryland. She has been dancing since she was six and has taken classes in hip-hop, jazz, ballet and tap. Dancing every summer and every year, she was upset when she had to quit classes in high school but quickly found a job dancing for a DJ for events such as Bar and Bar Mitzvahs. Being away from home and her DJ, she is excited to get back to dancing and pumping up the crowd with the Quaker Girls!

Sydney Schneider is a freshman from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is ecstatic to be a Quaker Girl! Dancing ever since she could walk, Sydney is in the College of Arts and Sciences and is interested in majoring in Communications. When she isn’t dancing, Sydney is training for a marathon, having lunch with friends, and just enjoying Penn. Go Quakers!

Tacie Reger is currently a senior in the School of Nursing while pursuing minors in Hispanic Studies and Global Health. She is from the Seattle area and has been dancing since age five. She is technically trained in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern and hip hop and loves performing all styles! Outside of Quaker Girls, Tacie is a member of Soundworks Tap Factory and Arts House Dance Company. She is also involved with Eco-Reps, a peer education group that promotes sustainable living in college houses. She absolutely loves Penn and can't wait to perform at basketball games this year with the Quaker Girls. Go Quakers!
