Joining the Network

To join the Philly Gamers network, as an individual or organization, just send an e-mail to Anthony at pgamers@dolphin.upenn.edu introducing yourself briefly. Please indicate if you wish to be added to the mailing list. Organizations should send information along the lines of that listed on the Members page so I can add such information there.

The Mailing List

Of course, the e-mail mailing list (address is gamers@dolphin.upenn.edu. )is the best way to contact the most Philly Gamers, but please take note of the following guidelines, as violation of at least the first can lead to ostracism by the membership at large:

  • Send absolutely NO non-gaming solicitations to the list.

  • Do not repost similar information more than on a weekly basis.

  • A post attempting to organize a game (known as a "Call for Players") should include as much of the following information as possible, with the appropriate headers (in bold):

    • A Title for the gaming group/campaign, if applicable, for idenitification purposes. (e.g. "Chester Diplomacy Game", "Deadfire Campaign")
    • Describe the Game System to be used, including what game system, version, and any house variations. (e.g. "Settlers of Catan, second printing, knight cards interrupt" or "Ars Magica 3rd edition, with some rules of 4th edition")
    • Full Contact information, including the referee's name, e-mail, website, phone numbers, etc.
    • Give the "Locus", that is, the full location in time and space, including directions to the location, instructions on how to get access to the location, date and time, whether there will be regular sessions, etc.
    • Last, but by no means least, write up a one to three paragraph Description of the game environment. This pertains more to the roleplaying games, which must convey a sense of setting, character archetypes, etc., but can serve as a place for miscellaneous notes about the group for other types of games, like expected levels of competancy (e.g. "Beginners welcome" or "Experts only").
